Academics & Curriculum

 
Harrisonville Christian School provides a strong core program in phonics, reading, language, spelling, mathematics, history, Bible, and science. In addition, students are offered physical education, art, vocal music, library classes, and chapel services. Students in grades 5-8 have the added benefit of computer classes, and may choose to take band.
Through the instructional program, students develop a Christian worldview of God. All areas of instruction are held up to the scrutiny of God's Word.
Curriculum is regularly reviewed by the faculty and administration to ensure that the best possible materials are being used. Biblical integration is a part of daily lesson plans in all areas of the instructional program. A Beka and other Bible-based curriculum is used.

Athletics

The athletic program is designed to help the athlete develop physically, grow spiritually, and build Christian Character. HCS offers Girls Volleyball and Co-ed Soccer in the fall and Basketball for Girls and Boys in the winter. A physical is required and eligibility standards must be met. Playing time is based on the athlete's academic eligibility, talent, attitude, and conduct. There is an athletic fee of $50.00 per athlete per sport.

Dress Code

HCS does not require uniforms or uniform dress for our students. Students in grades K-8 enjoy a relaxed dress code (jeans and t-shirts are allowed) with clean clothing in good condition. Clothing must be modest and of appropriate size and fit without being too tight or too baggy. No visible body or facial piercing is allowed. No clothing containing offensive messages (I.e. drug, alcohol or sexual references) will be allowed. No unnatural hair coloring or distracting hairstyles.
